Description

1817 O-110a Half Dollar, MS63
Rim-Toned Late-State Example

1817 50C O-110a, R.2, MS63 PCGS. The nearly solid, triply joined dentils below star 13 identify this available obverse, and the die crack from the top of the cap through all right-side stars identifies the later die state O-110a. A die line running from the lower arrow fletchings identifies this readily attributed reverse. Generous luster runs through the silvery centers before they cede to pale gold and rose near the rims, where many of the devices are drawn to the borders via die erosion. Certified in a green-label holder.
Ex: Private purchase from Ellesmere Numismatics (6/1990).
