Description
Unquestionably Original MS67 1911-S Quarter
1911-S 25C MS67 PCGS. The 1911-S is one of the more frequently encountered mintmarked late-date Barber quarters. Almost a million pieces were struck, and probably as a result of this (relatively) small mintage a higher percentage of Uncirculated coins were set aside. Predictably, this issue is anything but common in Superb condition. PCGS has only certified two other pieces in MS67 with none finer, and NGC has graded 7 in this condition with only one finer (5/05). As with many high grade '11-S quarters, this piece was struck from a polished die which imparted a lovely, bright gleam to the fields. This finish is even apparent beneath the speckled golden and rose toning that is seen over each side that deepens to crimson and thalo-blue at the margins. An exceptionally well preserved coin and unquestionably original.(#5661) (Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23ZR, PCGS# 5661, Greysheet# 5453)
