1883-CC Twenty Dollar, AU55
Good Choice for a Carson City Type Coin
1883-CC $20 AU55 NGC. Variety 2-A. In addition to the
primary characteristic for attribution which is the location of the
mintmark partially over the D in DOLLAR, there are secondary
attributes present also including two die chips near star 9 and
between stars 8 and 9 and a spike from the dentils above the E in
STATES. The 1883-CC is a moderately available CC twenty with
possibly as many as a thousand pieces extant in all grades. It is
one of the better-struck CC twenties, as seen here, and each side
displays rich reddish-gold patina.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BH, PCGS# 8999, Greysheet# 9937)
