1878 $3 MS64 PCGS. CAC. The 1878 is the most collectible
year in the three dollar gold series, which ran from 1854 to 1889.
More than 80,000 coins were struck, with Mint officials
anticipating high demand when gold reach parity with paper
currency. This CAC-approved near-Gem showcases lustrous red-gold
surfaces and a needle-sharp strike. The obverse fields are nearly
