The Only Ultra Cameo 1871 Silver Three Cent Piece
1871 3CS PR67 Ultra Cameo NGC. Mintage records indicate that 960 of these Proofs were struck in 1871, and possibly one-third of those actually survive today. Very few of those survivors are in Gem or Superb Gem condition. In fact, this example is the single finest Proof example certified by NGC. It is also the only Ultra Cameo of the date certified by NGC, regardless of grade. Similarly, PCGS has never graded a Deep Cameo example of the date. Both the obverse and the reverse are fully brilliant without any trace of toning. The fields and devices have exceptional contrast. This is a beautiful coin for the connoisseur.
