1929 Indian Half Eagle, Unc Details
Low Survival Rate

1929 $5 -- Obverse Cleaned -- NGC Details. Unc. Despite a mintage of 662,000 coins, the 1929 half eagles were in low demand from the public. Most demand for gold coins at the time was during the Christmas season, and the quarter eagle filled that demand. These half eagles remained in Treasury or bank vaults until the 1933 gold recall. Most of those that survive today are the result of limited demand from contemporary collectors. This rich honey-gold example shows no actual signs of wear, and only slight evidence of cleaning on the obverse. Scattered marks on each side are an ordinary occurrence on most surviving examples.
