Description
Gem 1977 Ike Dollar on an
Improperly Annealed Sintered Planchet
1977 $1 Eisenhower Dollar--Improperly Annealed Sintered
Planchet--MS65 PCGS. Unlike your usual stone-gray Gem Ike, the
present piece has dramatic (yet attractive) deep fire-red and
gunmetal-green patina. Lustrous and lightly abraded with a precise
strike. Presumably, copper alloy was leftover in the Mint annealing
furnaces, and adhered to the planchet prior to the strike.
