Description
MS66 1977 Ike Dollar on an
Improperly Annealed Sintered Planchet
1977 $1 Eisenhower Dollar--Improperly Annealed Sintered
Planchet--MS66 PCGS. This high grade Ike dollar has booming
luster, smooth surfaces, and a bold strike. What makes it unusual
is its color. It is dusky orange-red with glimpses of sea-green.
Apparently, the planchet was annealed in a Mint furnace laced with
copper alloy, which bonded to the planchet before it made its way
between Ike dollar dies.
