1853-D Gold Dollar, Near-Mint

1853-D G$1 AU58 NGC. Variety 5-G. Glimmers of peach-tinged luster accompany the stars and legends. The open fields are sun-gold. Clashed near the coronet tip but void of any visible abrasions. The strike shows slight blending near the ear. Another rare Dahlonega issue, since 6,583 pieces were struck and few were set aside by collectors until decades later. Census: 47 in 58, 34 finer (11/13).
