Description

Unsurpassable 1929-D Mercury Dime

1929-D 10C MS67 Full Bands PCGS. Mint State 1929-D Mercury Dimes have never been rare in an absolute sense. Examples could be purchased directly from the Treasury Department for face value as late as 1932. When these retained coins were finally released into public hands, most found their way directly to collectors, dealers, and investors. On the other hand, this date is a significant condition rarity at the MS67 Full Bands level. One of only 13 so graded examples at NGC and PCGS (none are finer, 11/02), this silver tinged representative is bursting with fulsome mint frost. There is not a single ill-defined feature, the central crossbands being split from end to end. Blushes of pale golden iridescence hug the upper obverse periphery of this, a Registry Set quality representative.
