Description

Lustrous 1900 Lafayette Silver Dollar, PCGS MS65

1900 $1 Lafayette Dollar MS65 PCGS. DuVall 2-C. The obverse has intermingled sea-green and lavender patina, while the reverse is dominated by apple-green and rose-violet colors. Potent cartwheel luster and carefully preserved surfaces combine with the original patina for attractive eye appeal. Well struck, as even Lafayette's boot has bold definition. Washington's nose has an inconspicuous fingerprint.
The second S in STATES has been sharply repunched in the working die. While not an especially rare variant of the Lafayette Dollar, it is certainly unusual for a Commemorative issue that was struck solely for sale to collectors to have repunched letters within the legends.
