Description

Exceptional Mid-Grade 1916-D Dime, VF30

1916-D 10C VF30 PCGS. This popular key date is on the want list of numerous collectors, which keeps the price at healthy levels for grades running from AG to upper Mint State. Nice problem-free, mid-grade examples such as the VF30 presented here appear rather infrequently at auction. Indeed, our records indicate that fewer than 15 coins in this particular grade have appeared in major public sales over the past ten years. Similarly, PCGS has certified only 53 '16-D dimes to date in VF30, some of which are undoubtedly resubmissions.
Pleasing light silver-gray patina rests on semi-bright surfaces that are quite clean. Nice detail is apparent on the design elements, including bold definition on the rims of both sides. A couple of minor grazes are noted in the upper left fields of each side. This piece should elicit spirited bidding.(Registry values: N1793)
