Description
Impressive Mint State 1889-CC Double Eagle
1889-CC $20 MS62 NGC. This is sharply struck with brilliant yellow-gold luster. A few small splashes of coppery orange toning are visible. While the surfaces have a few very minor abrasions, these are consistent with the grade. This lovely double eagle presents an excellent value, assuming a price in line with current market levels. NGC has certified 21 examples of this issue as MS62; however, has never graded a finer coin. While the date is not considered a rarity, even in lower Mint State grades, there are only three or four finer examples, regardless of certification figures. From The Harold W.
