1969-D Kennedy Half on a Brazil Planchet
1969-D 50C Kennedy Half--Struck on a Brazil 20C Planchet--MS64 PCGS. PCGS implies the piece was struck on a planchet intended for a Brazil 1967 (KM-579.1) or 1970 (KM-579.2) 20 centavos planchet. The U.S. Mint has never produced coins for Brazil, but both countries could have had a common private planchet supplier. A medium golden-brown piece with smooth, satiny surfaces. Uncentered toward 9:30 with most of UNITED STATES off the flan. About half of the date is present. A small retained lamination is noted on the cheekbone, and the reverse has a thin strike-through on the eagle's left (facing) leg.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24U8, PCGS# 6712, Greysheet# 6925)
