Description

Kennedy Half Struck on a Foreign Planchet

Undated 50C Kennedy Half--Struck on Brazil 10C--MS65 PCGS. PCGS implies this Kennedy half was struck on a Brazil 1967 or 1970 10 centavos planchet, KM-578.1 or KM-578.2. The U.S. Mint has never struck coins for Brazil, although a private planchet supplier to the U.S. Mint could also have supplied planchets to Brazil. This partial collar piece is uncentered toward 7:30. The date is absent, and only a sliver of the mintmark is present, but the piece may be a 1969-D, because the prior lot (a 1969-D) was also struck on a Brazil planchet. Lustrous and well preserved with golden-brown and mauve toning.

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24U8, PCGS# 6712, Greysheet# 6925)
