Description

Mint State 1803 Large Stars Ten Dollar

1803 MS 61 PCGS. Large Stars Reverse. B. 1-F. A scarce variety that is characterized by the left foot of the A in STATES being corrected from an imperfect punch. Sharply struck, the upper hair curls are especially well defined as are the breast feathers on the eagle. The fields are bright and show a semi-prooflike glimmer on the obverse. Lightly abraded, as one would expect from the grade, the only mark of note is a shallow, diagonal scratch across the shield on the reverse. A pleasing, lustrous example of this important, early gold type.
