Rare AU 53 1879-O Liberty Eagle
1879-O AU 53 PCGS. A second example of this extremely rare With Motto eagle--the first ten dollar struck in the New Orleans mint after an 18-year lapse in production occasioned by the Civil War and its aftermath. The protected areas on this important Condition Census example show the expected prooflikeness, although the effect is limited by scuffiness in the exposed fields from a nominal amount of circulation. Sharply struck with bright yellow-gold color and no singularly distracting marks.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 265P, PCGS# 8685, Greysheet# 9489)
Weight: 16.72 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
