Description

1893-CC AU 58 NGC. A rare and underrated Carson City ten dollar with a paltry mintage of only 14,000 pieces. Popular with collectors also because of its final year of issue status from this mint. Most surviving specimens grade VF or XF with AU pieces being quite elusive. This coin is tied with several others as third finest certified, and it is bettered only by two MS 60 and two MS 62 NGC coins. This is a very sharply struck piece that has lustrous, even, yellow-gold color. Minimally abraded.
Ex: Wes Rasmussen Collection (Superior, 2/98), lot 3507.
