Description

1867-S Half Eagle, XF45 NGC

1867-S $5 XF45 NGC. The 1867-S Half Eagle, of which only 29,000 coins were originally produced, is usually represented in today's market by heavily worn examples. In terms of condition rarity, this issue is nearly on par with the highly respected 1865-S. As such, we anticipate considerable bidder activity when this problem-free, upper-end XF representative crosses the auction block. Rich copper-gold coloration characterizes the reverse and all major features are crisply defined. There are scattered abrasions throughout, but these are typical of these Western issues.(#8314) (Registry values: P3)
