Description
Condition Census 1882-S Five Dollar, MS65 NGC
1882-S $5 MS65 NGC. With 969,000 pieces struck, the 1882-S is not known as an absolute rarity. It is also readily available in the lower grades of Uncirculated; in fact, it is one of those issues that one doesn't really think much about until a Gem such as this surfaces. Only 27 Gems have been certified by both NGC and PCGS with only three finer (1/05). This is a lovely, smooth-surfaced piece that is sharply defined in all areas. A couple of minor luster grazes are noted in the fields but we see no abrasions on the devices of this Condition Census example.(#8360) (Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25XJ, PCGS# 8360, Greysheet# 9076)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
