Late State 1796 S-91 Liberty Cap Cent, VF35
1796 1C Liberty Cap VF35 NGC. S-91, B-1, R.3. Breen Die State VII. Leaf pairs beneath UN and CA immediately identify this variety. Every other 1796 Liberty Cap cent has a leaf triplet under one or both of these letter pairs. Nearly the terminal die state with advanced bulges on both sides. Pleasing dark brown surfaces exhibit splashes of olive and tan, retaining traces of cartwheel luster. Lightly abraded surfaces have old obverse scratches, mostly on the bust, and all blended with the surrounding color. Two small corrosion spots are close to ME.
