Brilliant Gem 1829 Half, O-107
1829 50C MS65 NGC. O-107, R.3. The unfinished die lines in front of Liberty's bust are a key identifier. On the reverse, the C in the denomination is nearly closed, and the lower portion of the C is recut. The second A is recut along its left base. The present example offers brilliant, untoned surfaces with a slight golden cast and no visible distractions. The luster is satiny and impressive with full mint brilliance. An old clash mark rises on the reverse from the eagle's left (facing) wing. Sharp designs on both sides with weakness only among a few obverse stars. Among the finest survivors and one of just two Gems known to us.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24FS, PCGS# 6154, Greysheet# 6193)
