Description
Elusive and Conditionally Challenging 1870-S Coronet Eagle
1870-S $10 AU53 PCGS. Well struck by the dies with sharp curls on Liberty and strong central points on the stars. The surfaces show traces of luster in the protected areas, and this date is very scarce in any grade of Extremely Fine or higher. Identifiable by a thin scratch on the reverse from the U to TE of UNITED and the rims above. A very difficult coin to locate this nice and an excellent choice for the advanced numismatist. Population: 4 in 53, 5 finer (1/05).(#8659) (Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 264V, PCGS# 8659, Greysheet# 9472)
