Description

Well Struck 1892 Fifty Cents, PR65

1892 50C PR65 PCGS. Walter Breen (1977), writing about the 1892 proof half dollars, says they were "Hoarded as first year of issue but not to such a large extent as the quarters." The Gem offered in this lot displays wisps of iridescent aqua-green, crimson, light blue, and golden-tan coloration resting in the fields and in the recesses of the design elements. An excellent strike, as befits a proof impression. A few wispy marks are visible under magnification in the fields. Population: 30 in 65, 39 finer (6/07).
