Description

1934 1C MS64 Red Doubled Die Obverse PCGS. FS-013.79. Remnants of two date digits, a 3 and 4, are seen far south of the primary date. According to the most recent edition of Cherrypickers, "Since this was first reported, only two other specimens have surfaced to our knowledge. First reported by Lee Day. Overlays confirm the very high likelihood of this being a doubled die." Bright red overall, a hint of carbon limits the grade. An NGC MS65 Brown example of this rare variety was sold by us in our 2004 Portland Signature auction as lot 5246, which realized $1,035.
