Description
1918-D Mercury Dime, MS65 Full Bands
Splendid Border-Toned Gem
1918-D 10C MS65 Full Bands PCGS. Known as one the most
challenging mintmarked dates to find sharply struck, the 1918-D is
a condition rarity even in MS65 with the Full Bands designation.
This example displays uncommonly attractive patina in addition to
its sharp strike. Amber and violet border toning adds rainbow
colors to the palette, while an element of lavender imbues the
lustrous, silver-gray centers. The obverse is suitably well-defined, and while the leaf overlapping the lower diagonal band shows slight softness, the central bands offer a clean separating line. This is a great coin that is as carefully preserved as the Gem grade demands, definitively rare any finer, while seldom seen so sharp and colorful. Population: 33 in 65 (1 in 65+), 5 finer (7/24).
