Description
1866 Two Cent, MS64 Brown
on a Bronze Cent Planchet
1866 2C Two Cent Piece -- Struck on a Cent Planchet -- MS64
Brown NGC. 3.1 grams, similar to the expected 3.11 gram weight
of a bronze Indian cent. Struck aligned with the collar die, or
nearly so, at 2:30. Only about half of the date is present, but a
majority of the final 6 is here and confirms the date. Virtually
all of the shield and wreath are present, but most of UNITED STATES
is off the flan. Wrong planchet errors are rarely encountered on
obsolete denominations, particularly in quality Mint State.
Unabraded, though a few flecks of powder-blue and lilac show here
and there across the golden-tan surfaces.
