Description

1879-CC Morgan Dollar, MS64
Low-Mintage Carson City Key Date

1879-CC $1 MS64 PCGS. VAM-5. VAM-5 has slightly tripled stars, doubled 18, vertical polishing lines extending from the nostril, and the CC mintmark is slightly shifted left. This Carson City issue of just 756,000 pieces is the scarcest of the early issues from 1878 to 1885, as most were released into circulation. This attractive Choice example exhibits well-detailed design elements with just a trace of the usual blending on the hair above the ear. The lustrous surfaces show some reflectivity in the fields, and are lightly marked, consistent with the grade. A tiny wisp of lilac and caramel toning graces Liberty's cheek, otherwise the surfaces are brilliant and deliver fantastic eye appeal.
