Description
Wonderful 1849 Seated Dollar, MS62
1849 $1 MS62 PCGS. Even though the 1849 is encountered in Mint State grades from time to time, it hardly qualifies as a common date in the series. In fact, there are only two issues of the No Motto design that are seen with any frequency in higher grades: 1859-O and 1860-O. A decade early in 1849, just 62,600 Seated dollars were coined, and most were hoarded and eventually melted. This piece has attractive ivory color with darker golden-tan toning, and slightly reflective fields. Population: 6 in 62, 24 finer (8/07).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24YL, PCGS# 6936, Greysheet# 7199)
Weight: 26.73 grams
