Description
1899 Barber Quarter, MS67
Vividly Toned Condition Census Example
CAC-Endorsed Registry Coin
1899 25C MS67 PCGS. CAC. This remarkable coin is a delight
to behold. Frosty, radiant mint luster rolls freely throughout
pristine fields and sharp struck central devices. Even the border
stars and the eagle's talons are bold. This coin's strike is as
close to full as is ever seen on a Barber quarter. However, beyond
the luster and strike, the coin showcases spectacular toning. On
the reverse, this appears as vibrant rainbow patches in the margins
around an iridescent champagne and pale blue interior, while the
obverse is perhaps most distinctive with similar colors that cede
to midnight-russet in a trough through the lower margin. Not a
single notable abrasion is seen. We have previously seen only a
single 1899 Barber quarter in Superb Gem condition. This piece is
one of only five so graded, and one of three so fine with CAC
endorsement. Population: 4 in 67 (2 in 67+), 0 finer. CAC: 3 in 67,
0 finer (8/25).(Registry values: N2998)From The Altamura Family Collection.
