1852-O Seated Quarter, AU58
Rare in All Grades, Few Certified Finer

1852-O 25C AU58 NGC. Briggs 1-B. Large O Mintmark. The 1852-O is an absolute as well as a condition rarity in the Seated quarter series. Only 96,000 pieces were struck, and a significant portion of the mintage was melted because the intrinsic value of the coin was worth more than its face value. This example is well-struck for a New Orleans issue and each side is deeply toned. This depth of color helps to subdue some swirling pinscratches located in the upper reverse field. Very scarce in such a high grade. Housed in a Gen. 4 NGC holder. NGC Census: 3 in 58, 1 finer (10/25).
