1909-O $5 MS61 PCGS. Winter-1....
Description
1909-O Indian Half Eagle, MS61
Series Key Date
1909-O $5 MS61 PCGS. Winter-1. The 1909-O half eagle is the
last gold coin that was struck at the New Orleans Mint. This is the
key date of the series along with having the lowest mintage of just
34,200 coins. The 1909-O is very scarce in Uncirculated grades, and
collector demand is intense. This attractive wheat gold specimen
has good strike quality for the date, with some usual weakness in
feather detail on the reverse including the eagle's right leg. The
obverse has slight weakness in the lower feathers, but this is also
typical of the 1909-O. Lightly abraded surfaces are consistent with
the grade, including some marks in front of the portrait and light
contact marks on the reverse. Frosty luster is found on the
portrait and within the eagle feathers which adds to the appeal of
this lovely coin. PCGS Population: 41 in 61, 61 finer
