Description

1876-S Ten Dollar, AU55
Rare Issue, Very Low Mintage

1876-S $10 AU55 NGC. The 1876-S ten dollar gold is tied with the 1860-S eagle as the second lowest San Francisco Mint Liberty Head ten dollar gold issue with 5,000 coins struck, and is rarely found in any grade. This example has attractive rich wheat gold toning and satiny luster. There is a moderate abrasion on the portrait face, but most of the surfaces have only small circulation marks. Very few examples of 1876-S eagles are graded higher. This representative has a full strike with nice overall appeal. NGC Census: 9 in 55, 2 finer (8/25).(Registry values: N4719)
