Description
1865 Twenty Dollar Liberty, MS63
Beautifully Preserved
1865 $20 MS63 NGC. Ex: The Peh Family Collection. A sharply
struck Liberty Twenty with pleasing cartwheel luster and a very
clean portrait. The reverse is also well preserved, and there are
no distracting bagmarks on either side. As is the rule for double
eagles of this era, lightly circulated survivors can be found
without substantial difficulty, but true Uncirculated pieces are
nearly unobtainable. Bright, satiny luster is enhanced by a
razor-sharp strike overall. Simply, a must-see example of this
always popular issue. The 1865 population in MS63 and finer grades
has barely increased at all in the last two decades, indicating
sustained scarcity at these upper grade levels.Ex: Dallas Signature (Heritage, 11/2005), lot 2460.(Registry values: N7079)
