Shimmering Wells Fargo Hoard Coin
1908 $20 No Motto, Wells Fargo Nevada, MS68 PCGS. Ex: Wells
Fargo Nevada Gold. Short Rays Obverse. Already common from its 4.27
million-piece mintage, the 1908 No Motto double eagle became even
more well-known as the lion's share of 19,900 high Mint State
pieces discovered as part of the Wells Fargo Hoard. Primarily Short
Rays Obverse coins make up nearly all of the Wells Fargo hoard
coins, plus a few Long Rays Obverse pieces. This is a resplendent
Superb Gem example with vivid peach-gold color and billowing mint
luster. The strike is needle-sharp throughout and only a few tiny
ticks exist on either side. Eye appeal is exceptional. PCGS
