1843-D $2 1/2 Small D XF45 PCGS. Winter-4H....
Description
1843-D Quarter Eagle, XF45
Small D, Authentic Patina
1843-D $2 1/2 Small D XF45 PCGS. Winter-4H. The Dahlonega
Mint struck the series-high 36,209 quarter eagles in 1843 and the
issue remains the most common from that mint, ideal for branch mint
type collectors. The strike on this piece is typical of the issue,
with sharp details throughout the reverse and on all of the stars,
and only slight softness on Liberty's curls and over her eye. Wear
has blended the surfaces and softened most light abrasions. Eye
appeal is truly outstanding, with original olive-gold patina
accented with occasional hues of lavender and orange bordering the
devices. Attractive XF45 pieces such as this are always in demand,
as PCGS reports only 14 Mint State quarter eagles from the issue
(9/25).(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25GP, PCGS# 7730, Greysheet# 8343)
