Description

1803/2 Capped Bust Right Five, XF Details
Popular BD-1 Variety

1803/2 $5 BD-1, R.4 -- Damage -- PCGS Genuine. XF Details. Bass-Dannreuther Die State a/b. The Ts in LIBERTY, UNITED, and STATES are all missing their lower-right serifs. Die cracks indicating a later die state have yet to form on this early die state coin. A pair of lengthy scrapes through Liberty's upper cap comprise the Damage indicated by PCGS. The 3 in the date is close to the drapery but does not touch and field star 12 points to the eagle's upper beak. Glossy green-gold color flows across the otherwise smooth, well-struck surfaces that maintain XF sharpness. Substantial eye appeal remains despite the noted imperfections.
