Description

1855 Wass, Molitor Fifty Dollar, VG8 CAC
Popular Round Gold Rush Issue
Scarce K-9 Variety

1855 $50 Wass Molitor Fifty Dollar VG8 PCGS. CAC. K-9, R.5. The distinctive Wass-Molitor round fifties are the only such coins in the Territorial series, and examples are highly sought-after. Possibly 75 to 100 examples survive in all grades today. This impressive VG8 specimen exhibits extensive wear on the central design elements, but the major devices remain complete in outline and the date and peripheral legend on the reverse remain legible. The pleasing orange-gold surfaces are lightly abraded and the high quality within the grade is confirmed by CAC. Listed on page 400 of the 2026 Guide Book. Population: 2 in 8, 81 finer. CAC: 1 in 8, 14 finer (11/25)
