Ivan V gold Novodel Kopeck ND (1682-1696) MS63 NGC, Fr-74. 0.36gm. This piece appeared at auction a few different times about 15 years ago, first with CNG in 2007 (going unsold), and the last of the four appearances being with Sincona at their inaugural sale in 2011. During that time, it was described both as Novodel Kopeck, and as Novodel Denga (1/2 Kopeck), purportedly struck with Altyn dies. Nevertheless, this is a scarce type produced with titles for Ivan V, though he and Peter I (the Great) were actually co-Czars during this period. The number of auction appearances of this type since this piece last sold in 2011 have decreased dramatically, making this a welcome reappearance for specialists of this intriguing type.
