Divine Catherine the Great Gold Novodel

Catherine II gold Novodel 10 Roubles 1782-CПБ MS63★ NGC, St. Petersburg mint, KM-C79b (for regular issue), Bitkin-H44 (R3), Fr-129b. The first of two ultra rare Catherine the Great 10 Rouble Novodels purchased out of the George Gund III Collection (the other being the 1796 dated piece) at Stack's in 2007. At the time of the Gund sale this specimen was contained in an NGC holder with a Cameo Proof (PR62 CAM) designation, and though the Proof attribution for Novodels has largely been phased out at NGC, it is easy to see why that designation might have been given. This piece has glorious Cameo effect, the yellow frost populating the central design motifs is as luscious and opaque as seemingly possible for the time period. A few scattered wisps and abrasions limit the numerical grade to Choice, but the Prooflike resplendence is so captivating, these minor detractions are but an afterthought upon inspection of this spectacular coin. One of the visual highlights of this amazing sale, and the finest certified specimen of the date and type in existence.

1782-CПБ年葉卡捷琳娜二世Novodel 10盧布金幣。MS63★ NGC。
聖彼得堡造幣廠。葉卡捷琳娜大帝Novodel 10盧布乃有如鳳毛麟角的珍品，而當前這枚出自2007年George Gund III集藏，為該集藏的兩枚中年份較早者（另一枚為1796年）。當時此幣入盒NGC，並評為鏡面精製幣（PR62 CAM）。雖然NGC通常不會標注Novodel為精製幣，但此幣的精製幣狀態不證自明。其鏡面效果堂皇華美，中央圖案富含金黃霜感，難以想像這般細膩剔透的外觀竟出自兩三百年前的沙俄時期。雖然寥寥數道散落的絲痕，但其類精製效果仍迷人不已。是日拍賣精品雲集，此幣堪稱當中的焦點所在，評分在該年份的同款例子中穩居榜首。
