Aelius Caesar (AD 136-138). AR denarius (19mm, 3.64 gm, 6h). NGC AU★ 5/5 - 5/5, Fine Style. Rome, AD 137. L•AELIVS-CAESAR, bare head of Aelius right / TR-POT-COS-II, Pietas, veiled, standing right, acerrum in left hand, sprinkling incense with right hand over lighted and garlanded altar to right, PIE-TAS across fields. RIC II.3 2630. A simply beautiful coin, with an obverse die of exquisite artistry, surely among the finest denarii of Aelius in existence.
