MS63 Brown, Sole Mint State VOOE
1760 1/2 P Hibernia-Voce Populi Halfpenny, VOOE POPULI, N. 3, Z.
7-E, W-13930, R.3, MS63 Brown NGC. It is a lustrous
golden-brown piece with splendidly undisturbed fields and devices.
Well struck, although the highpoints are bluntly defined, which was
done to mimic wear to ease acceptance in circulation. The VOOE
variety was created when the die engraver accidentally entered a 0
in place of a C, then punched a C over it. The present lot is the
only example of this variety certified Mint State by NGC. Listed on
page 19 of the 2026 Guide Book.Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2009), lot 49; FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2010), lot 12.
