Description

Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1767 Mo-MF AU53 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM155, Fr-29, Cal-1992. The "rat face" issues from Charles III are highly desirable across the Spanish Colonial spectrum, but this 8 Escudos from Mexico City is especially scarce. Not since 2018 has this date appeared for sale with Heritage, and not since 2015 for a problem-free example. That 2015 piece was an AU55 from the Rudman Collection, and the current example compares quite well to that specimen. A luster graze in the field in front of Carlos' "cara de rata" is the only abrasion of note. We expect the bidding for this elusive, conditionally rare piece to be considerable.
