Description
Virtually Unseen Mint Sport Dollar
Kuang-hsü "Mint Sport" Dollar ND (1909) MS62 PCGS, Tientsin
mint, KM-Unl., L&M-903, Kann-pg. 445. An extremely curious
issue, as virtually all Mint Sports are, whose origins and purpose
remain shrouded in mystery but provide collectors with enigmatic
combinations. On offer is an incredibly scarce rendition, struck
using two obverse dies, one of the Year 34 Chilhli Dollar
(L&M-465), the other of the 1908 imperial Dollar (L&M-11).
An impressive example and one purportedly from Kann's personal
collection, here showcasing a deep patination throughout, with
polychromatic concentrations towards the peripheries while the
central devices remain ablaze in a champagne hue. Currently the
lone occupant at PCGS, a feat in and of itself, and rare as
such. From the Peh Family Collection, Part III

MS62 PCGS。
