1862 $3 AU58 NGC....
Description
1862 Three Dollar Gold, AU58
Low-Mintage Civil War Date
1862 $3 AU58 NGC. The 1862 three dollar gold piece has
proven to be quite scarce in high grade, partly due to its small
mintage of 5,750 pieces, but mostly due to a lack of numismatic
interest in the series at the time of issue. Surviving high-grade
pieces largely waited many years to fall into collectors' hands.
This near-Mint coin has significant luster in the fields and only
slight high-point friction, with pleasing straw-gold patina. The
strike is well-detailed beneath the touch of wear. Census: 57 in
58, 47 finer (10/25).(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25MH, PCGS# 7983, Greysheet# 8635)
Weight: 5.02 grams
