Description

Zacatecas. Ferdinand VII "Royalist" Real 1811 VF35 PCGS, Zacatecas mint, KM184, Cal-698, Ramirez-Z1.1.2. LVO Type 2, Castles and Lions variety. Lovely toned.

Royalists initiated coin minting in Zacatecas on November 14, 1810, with production ceased during the capture by insurgents between April 15 and May 21, 1811. In this brief control of Zacatecas, the insurgents issued 1811 and 1810-back dated coins, with the same motifs used by the Royalists, but struck with considerably cruder dies. Upon re-taking control of the region, the Royalists started striking the portrait types, all the way through 1822.
