 1766 1/2 P Pitt Halfpenny AU53 PCGS. Betts-519, W-8350, R.3.
Minimally circulated reddish-brown surfaces contain gunmetal
accents and a couple of obverse planchet flaws. A trace of rub
occurs over the high points of the portrait and ship. The reverse
is slightly rotated. These tokens, listed in the Betts reference,
are almost certainly of English origin. They celebrate the
statesman William Pitt and his repeal of the Stamp Act in 1766.
