Description

1793 S-8 Wreath Cent, AU53
Glossy Mahogany Brown Surfaces

1793 1C Wreath, Vine and Bars Edge, S-8, B-13, R.3, AU53 NGC. Breen Die State II. An impressive first-year cent with the Wreath reverse and Vine and Bars edge. This coin exhibits a horizontal twig and slightly defective 93 in the date, with a triangular bow on the reverse, identifying the popular Sheldon-8 variety. A bulge slants down to the right through the wreath on the reverse, showing an early stage of the die crack that later bisects the reverse along the edge of the bulge. Dramatic clash marks from the wreath are evident below Liberty's chin. The glossy mahogany brown surfaces are lightly abraded, with a trace of granularity in the field behind Liberty's head and just a touch of wear is evident on the strongly impressed design elements. The overall presentation is most attractive. Our EAC grade XF40.
