1911-D 25C MS66+ PCGS. CAC....
Description
1911-D Quarter Dollar, MS66+
The Second Finest Known
1911-D 25C MS66+ PCGS. CAC. This is a high Condition Census
example of the 1911-D quarter, and likely the sole second finest
known. PCGS reports three coins in MS66, with only the present
example awarded a Plus designation among them. This is also the
only Premium Gem with CAC endorsement. NGC lists a single MS66 coin
as the finest at that service. The only 1911-D finer than this
piece is the Eliasberg-Gardner MS67, which has not been seen in our
auctions since 2014.The current coin is spectacular. Warm gold, cottonwood-green, and light russet toning graces each side, and there are no disruptive abrasions. The eagle's shield and talons are nearly full, and on the obverse only star 11 shows mentionable weakness. A stunning example not likely to be seen again for many years. Population: 3 in 66 (1 in 66+), 1 finer. CAC: 1 in 66, 1 finer (8/25).(Registry values: N4719)
