Description
British India. Edward VII silver Original Proof Pattern Rupee 1910-(c) PR62 PCGS, Calcutta mint, KM-Pn99, S&W-7.12, Prid-1049. By F.K. Wezel (after G.W. de Saulles) and P. Brown. An exquisitely executed "Original" Proof striking of this lovely Pattern Rupee featuring a crowned effigy of King Edward VII and a reverse that was eventually adopted for George V's Rupee coinage; the death of King Edward in May of 1910 prevented this Pattern's adoption for standard use. Though quite heavily toned in taupe shades, the presentation of this coin's features is fantastic; the beard detail, broad rims, and dentils are all razor sharp, and extremely attractive as such. Only one grade point below the ex. Puddester specimen offered in our 2025 Central States venue, which realized over $20,000.Metal: Silver
Diameter: 30mm
Estimate: $8,000 - $10,000.
